Loving these fabrics...

One of my goals for 2011 is to get back into making handmade items for our home, friends, and myself. Right now I'm absolutely loving these fabrics from Robert Kaufman's Metro Living line. Thinking that some pillows are in order to go with the new furniture in the living room. Maybe a purse? Maybe a....?

And these Yuwa/Kei japanese fabrics are also very cute!

So many decisions! Choosing fabric is easy, deciding what kind of creation would look absolutely perfect in it is the challenge! :)

More Cosmetic Bags

A couple more, and larger, cosmetic bags! Loving the new fabric store in Old Town Fort Collins - Mama Said Sew. Check them out! Great modern fabrics, and I snagged these reclaimed zippers for only a buck each!

Outdoor Space

With the kickoff of spring, Jason and I have been planning our next round of home improvements: the patio. We spend so much time outdoors in the summer and we really want to make our patio space comfortable and usable, day and night, for entertaining friends as well as simple dinners for two.

While he is busy building the table I've been coming up with some ideas for lighting, fabrics and plantings. Here are a few of the inspirations. On the palette: warm woods, earth tone fabrics, whimsical lighting, soft plantings with splashes of color here and there.

Industrial Candle Holders

As we anxiously await for our new bedroom furniture Jason and I are starting to think about some of the details we want to add to our freshly painted (and completely empty) bedroom. While our house is new and fairly traditional in style we like the industrial look with some creative, modern touches here and there. I am totally digging these candle holders from CB2 and thinking they may have to be the next purchase to help decorate the space.

Baby Blanket

This is a baby quilt I made for a friend of mine last summer. They had not found out if they were having a boy or girl yet so I needed something fairly gender-neutral for the material and yet modern to match their taste.

Simply.

I’ve wanted to start a blog for awhile but for the longest time felt I had nothing to offer besides it being a venue for my writing and random thoughts (what exactly would I write about, anyway??). Now that I have gotten into making things by hand I thought I could use it to post my latest projects and general updates on life, as well as share cool new ideas that I run across.

With today kicking off the beginning of the Lenten season, I thought it would be a great time to take a look at how I want to be living and re-shift my efforts on what I value in life: my faith, my husband, my friends and the things that make me happy – like being creative, enjoying a great glass of wine, taking outdoor adventures with my husband and sharing good conversation with friends.

So join the conversation if you’d like! And here’s to refocusing on living life – fully and simply.

Mini-Cosmetic Bag

I put this together the other day - first shot at something with a zipper (pretty easy!) I think it turned out pretty cute. Would love to make a set of different sizes.
